The Fish Marketing Organization

The Fish Marketing Organization (“FMO”) was first established in October 1945 under the "Defense Regulations" to assist fishermen to resume production after the war. It is a financially independent non-profit organization responsible for providing orderly services to Hong Kong fisheries and fishery traders. With efficient marine fish wholesale sales system and facilities. It has 76 years of history to develop fisheries and improve the social and economic conditions of fishermen.

The Fish Processing Center was established in 2005 at Aberdeen Fish Wholesale Market. The professional workers from the center cleaning fish internal organs, washing, cutting fish fillets, etc. Furthermore, the center develops and supplies premium fisheries products, such as dried salted and processed fisheries products to various customers including restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, clubs and institutions like senior citizen homes. Of course provide the same to Hong Kong people.

Italian Made Low-temperature Quick-freezer

In order to improve the quality of products, the Fish Processing Center has introduced a low-temperature quick-freezer made in Italy, which could quickly freeze different kinds of fresh fish at an ultra-low temperature of minus 40 degrees within one hour to preserve the freshness of the goods. Quick-frozen fish technology helps keep seafood fresh for one year. If the refrigerator at home is large enough to order more you could buy some at home. Its easy for you to prepare before cook, only need to put it from the ice tray to the cold storage compartment in the morning and let the fish slowly and completely defrost. The taste is no different from fresh fish.

Local Quality Fish Farm label and QR Code

From local high-quality fish farms, they are registered for regular quality monitoring by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (“AFCD”) to ensure hygiene, management methods, drug use, fish health and water quality.

In addition to the identification of the QR code affixed to the fish body, the fresh fish from the local registered Local Quality Fish Farm will also attached with the "Local Quality Fish Farm" label. This plan was launched by the AFCD in 2005 to promote good aquaculture methods and production. Methods such as standardization of procedures and pre-sales testing of products provide the public with high-quality and safe fishery products, while assisting local fish farmers to enhance the competitiveness of their products.

Staff of the AFCD regularly inspect the fish farms participating in the "Quality Fish Farm Project" to review the environment and management methods, provide technical support to fish farmers, and conduct a series of food safety inspections before the sale of fishery products. The fishery products produced by high-quality fish farms must pass food safety tests to ensure that they do not contain malachite green and antibiotics, and no heavy metals exceed the standard.

The fish species of the "Quality Fish Farm" are Star Snapper, Jade Perch, Pompano, Grey Mullet, Mangrove Snapper, Giant Grouper, Cobia Steak, White Flower Crokaker Steak, Blackspotted Croaker Fillet, etc.
