You Treasure Food / Little Greener

We offer to those items close to"best before date" but remind great quality to encourage consumer to treasure foods. Treasure foods, treasure our planet.🌎

There was a TV special about this many years ago.

The day is actually set randomly by the manufacturer.

There is no scientific basis.

And by the university like HKUST to test many types of expired food,

It was found that the quality and bacterial content are all good.

From now on, I became accustomed to eating so-called "expired" food.

In addition to containing milk and eggs,

Nuts are not eaten if they have an "oily smell".

~ Paraphrased from a senior doctor working in a public hospital

Humans generate a lot of waste every day, but unfortunately, many of them are even more hygienic and delicious food, brand new everyday items! I don't know when to start, everything has a deadline. Bleach, plastic wrap, toothpaste, and sea salt all have deadlines!? Expired, many people just throw them in the trash, but do you know if the date is "best before" or "use by"? There are other differences between the two. The former does not necessarily mean that it needs to be practiced after it has expired. A single label will cause great waste in the city. It is time to change it!

Because prepackaged food sold in Hong Kong is required by law to have the label "use by" or "best before", what is the difference between the two? Everyone may be dewy, and they are completely aware. When they see the date has passed, their first reaction is "don't eat it when it expires." In fact, the "Best Before" products, if stored properly, the quality has not deteriorated, can be eaten with peace of mind, which not only saves money but also greatly reduces the waste of earth's resources.

In fact, according to the laws of Hong Kong, food that has passed the best before period is allowed to be sold. However, because Hong Kong people may be affected by many unscrupulous food production flags in recent years, they are paying more and more attention to food safety. How many people really know the difference between the two, just look at the date and drop it.

Two adults give up when they see the word

A 2014 survey by Friends of the Earth found that 22% of respondents admitted to throwing away food as soon as it was found past its best before date. In 2013, there was a report in the United States that 9 out of 10 consumers directly discarded edible food due to misunderstanding labels. It is estimated that up to 40% of food in the United States is wasted because of this. The food is worth up to £750 million.

Extrapolating from this, how staggering is the waste of misunderstanding a label? As you can imagine, this issue has also attracted the attention of many European countries. The EU currently stipulates that all packaged food should be marked with use by or best before. Foods such as rice, coffee, spaghetti, etc. are exempted, and there are best before boxes in separate tracks to avoid confusion among the public and change to reduce food waste. But do consumers also have the right to be informed about when and before food tastes best, and how should this be balanced? The EU is still inconclusive on this and needs to be followed up.

Save the planet and take food labels seriously!

Mass waste of food is a serious problem in cities around the world! Should the Best before tag still remain? It's not a bad thing for consumers to be serious about "expiration", but how can they avoid blindly wasting food due to misunderstandings? In recent years, the public's awareness of food prudence has increased, and food labels have a role to play, but the public should also know more about it and not be a "big waste ghost".

Most of the products on this shelf are close to or have passed the "best before" date. Please pay attention to the date marked on the product before purchasing. We sell products at preferential prices, and the proceeds will be used to support local agriculture and promote various green environmental protection activities. Please do your part to reduce the waste of earth's resources!

"Little Greener" implements the concept of "Cherishness is a blessing"

It is legal to sell prepackaged products with a "best before" expiry date (according to the "Centre for Food Safety" guidelines) labelling

  1. Enjoy massive discounts on original price items
  2. Reduce waste of resources and environmental pollution
