Stem cells - a new boon for animal care

In the past, when people were injured or sick, traditional treatments mainly involved taking medicine or injections. In the past, if there was no improvement after taking medication, one could only hope for self-healing, but now there is an additional option: stem cell regenerative therapy.

Some countries have begun to adopt regenerative medicine, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan and the United States. The era of stem cell therapy has arrived! In fact, many diseases are rooted in the fact that tissue cells in the body are damaged and cannot be repaired in time, resulting in permanent loss of some functions and fibrosis. When we are young, our bodies will activate stem cells to fully repair themselves. Now, we have broken through the limitations of aging and activated the body's cell function repair through oral or injection of stem cells. The current cases are applied to animal treatment and rehabilitation, and even to humans:

  1. Osteoarthritis (変形性関節症)
  2. Chronic kidney disease (慢性腎臓病)
  3. Chronic stomatitis (慢性口内炎)
  4. Intervertebral disc degeneration (椎間板変性)
  5. Chronic wounds (慢性創傷)
  6. Corneal ulcer (角膜潰瘍)
  7. Fractures and nerve damage (骨折と神経損傷)

But the older we get, the number and capacity of stem cells will decrease, and at this time we need help from stem cells outside the body. Therefore, the quality of stem cells is crucial to the effectiveness of treatment, and how to obtain a safe and youthful source is the key to success.

What are Stem Cells?

顯微鏡下的幹細胞形態
Stem cell morphology under a microscope

All living things are made up of cells, and stem cells are the original and undifferentiated seed cells in our body. They have two major functions: regeneration and differentiation. Through continuous regeneration and differentiation, stem cells provide the cells we need for daily metabolism and accidental damage. Simply put, stem cells are like the body's cell supply factory, providing the various cells we need every day.

什麼叫幹細胞,毛小孩照顧新福音

What types of stem cells are there?

In general, cells in the adult body can only regenerate and divide to a limited extent, but stem cells are able to regenerate themselves for a long time and divide into new stem cells. Furthermore, stem cells are characterised by non-specialisation, with no specific pattern in their morphology and growth, which can produce a variety of specialized cells through differentiation.

Stem cells can be divided into pluripotent and polyplastic, the former including embryonic cells, embryonic primitive germ cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells, while the latter includes epithelial stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells, and neural stem cells. Multipotent stem cells belong to the germ cells and can develop into new independent individuals. Polyplastic stem cells, on the other hand, can develop into a variety of specific somatic cells such as skin, cornea, and blood cells and produce substitutes to repair damaged tissues and organs.

Stem cells can be divided into two categories according to their functionality:

♥ Hematopoietic Stem Cells (HSC, 造血幹細胞): Hematopoietic stem cells are the main source of the hematopoietic system and immune system, making red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets (PRF) and immune cells (such as lymphocytes) derived from bone marrow, peripheral blood and umbilical cord blood. It is repulsive by itself and therefore requires the use of autologous or successfully paired cells for use, generally common bone transplantation refers to hematopoietic stem cells. Used in cancer, blood diseases and immune-related diseases.

Earlier, Hong Kong artist Natalie Ng and American tycoon Bryan Johnson received stem cell transfusion treatment in Thailand and the United States respectively, which also falls into this field. However, the therapeutic effect often depends on the quality of the body's own stem cells. Because Ms. Wu had undergone chemotherapy and her condition was getting worse, the results were not significant. As for Bryan Johnson, he used his own son's blood. Since blood culturing is still a new technology, it is not yet known whether the results will be significant.

♥ Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC, 間充質幹細胞): Mesenchymal stem cells can be obtained from different tissue sources such as human bone marrow, umbilical cord, animal placenta, and fat, and can differentiate into tissue cells such as sclerocytes, chondrocytes, tendons, cardiomyocytes, and neurons. Mesenchymal stem cells can be obtained from the umbilical cord and fat of animals, and in addition to their functions of self-renewal and differentiation into cells of different tissues, they can also drive themselves to damaged areas of tissue for repair (Homing). Mesenchymal stem cells are not repulsive, so stem cells of allogeneic origin can be used to treat patients and are an important cell source for regenerative therapy.

Since autologous cells are not easy to obtain and are often of poor quality, the use of allogeneic stem cells will become a future application trend. Allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells can be preprepared for preservation and readily available for research applications, and access to specific young non-infected and specific pathogenic donors (super donors) allows for better quality cells. Current clinical trials of stem cell cell therapy in the United States and Japan, covering a wide range of diseases, allogeneic cell therapy has grown year by year in this short decade and is expected to be the mainstream of future applications.

In recent years, scientists have also attempted to identify stem cells applicable to the treatment of a variety of diseases. "Mesenchymal stem cells" are one of them. This type of cell is isolated from different tissue sources that can be obtained from human bone marrow, umbilical cord, animal placenta, fat, etc., and is a pluripotent stem cell capable of developing into most cells in the human body.

There will definitely be differences in the application of regenerative medicine between humans and pets. For example, the species characteristics of more common dogs and cats are different from those of humans. However, because the regenerative medicine used by humans also confirms its effectiveness through animal experiments, it will progress to clinical trials. "There is more data on animals than on humans." Overall, the data is more sufficient.

Case Study

Case 1: Heart and kidney disease (心臓病と腎臓病)

The following is a real case sharing from one of our customers (thanks to her for writing down the case and sharing it our fellow customers). She used an oral capsule health product, which has been used in Hong Kong and Taiwan for tens of millions of times on humans and animals.

I use "Purtier" to help my family dog share:

Last year, I took it to a friend who knows how to treat dogs (I call him dog boss) because I thought dogs would breathe heavily when they were still sitting. The dog owner checked cupcake and said that his heart attack was enlarged, which means he had an initial heart attack. He also said that heart disease is irreversible, but he doesn't need to take medicine for the time being. He can take ginseng to maintain it. As long as you keep it, you don't need to take medicine.

Later, cupcake for some reason always hid, and lost a lot of weight, often licking his feet, so the dog boss judged him old (12 years old), inevitably joint degeneration, so prescribed glucosamine for cupcake to eat. Later found cupcake seems to leak urine, so I took the dog owner to see, he said that many big dogs eating ginseng is going to improve the problem of urine leakage, and cupcake all the way eating ginseng, so I guess cupcake is a kidney problem. So suggested we take cupcake for a urine and blood test.

The urine test results were sterile, the blood test results found that the kidney and liver index were above the standard, the index reflected that his kidney function had declined by at least 30 percent, already kidney disease, while kidney disease is irreversible. The doctor prescribed 1 liver supplement and hormone pills (2 times a day, 0.3ml each time - mainly for urine leakage). And started having to eat expensive and unpalatable prescription foods. Abstain from all fresh food, snack and cut the dried chicken to very small pieces, used to feed supplement.

Upon returning home, I began my life caring for a dog with heart disease and kidney disease (two diseases that are allegedly irreversible).

Because I heard that some cat volunteers would use Purtier to treat sick cats, so I tried to use Purtier to help Cupcake.Initially, it was dissolved in hot water and fed with a syringe. But it takes too much time, and may reduce the number of stem cells absorbed. So switched to snap a pill a day into his throat and swallow directly. I was feeding him Purtier while paying attention to see if it was right for him. Fortunately, there were no adverse reactions, so I continued to feed him one pill a day for 7 generations. He is spirited and happy.

If so, after about two months, I took him for a blood test again, and at the same time wanted to take an ECG to find out what stage his heart disease was, so that the dog owner could prescribe medicine for him. It's so happy! The blood test report showed that the previous liver and kidney excess numbers all fell back, and the listener listened to his heart that no noise, very clear, nothing. I sent the blood test report to the dog owner again, and he said yes, the indexes have all fallen back, and now there is no kidney disease!

Of course, Cupcake is 12.5 years old, considered an old dog, but can not be as wanton snacks as before, will still continue to give him prescription food and supplements + 1 purtier.

Case 2: Osteoarthritis 変形性関節症

Osteoarthritis in parrots

鸚鵡阿福的髖關節異常 鸚鵡小英的骨關節炎

The first case was a five-year-old parrot that was initially seen for gastrointestinal problems, and the doctor discovered that the parrot also had hip problems. The owner also found that Afu's grip had deteriorated, especially on his right foot, and his calf muscles had also slightly atrophied. The client used injectable regenerative therapy for pain control and joint treatment. After the treatment, the owner found that the parrot's pain condition improved, its ability to stand on two feet improved, and the use of painkillers began to decrease. The overall quality of life has improved, and the parrot has received treatment... and has achieved good results!

The second case was also a parrot that began to show symptoms of degenerative arthritis, including lameness, pain, and loss of appetite. Drug treatment was also limited in effect, and the owner hoped to find other ways to help the parrot. After discussing with professional veterinarians, we decided to try a new regenerative therapy, using extracellular vesicles (exosomes) secreted by stem cells for treatment by multi-point injection. After several weeks of treatment, the parrot's pain problems improved significantly and its mobility improved.

Degenerative arthritis-14 years old Tang dog

The case is a 14-year-old Tang dog who loves to run, jump and play. However, as he grew older, he began to show symptoms of degenerative arthritis, especially when walking up stairs. It was very difficult for him to go upstairs and he was not willing to walk anymore. He accepted stem cell therapy and after detailed examination and evaluation, he received stem cell injection and also cooperated with rehabilitation treatment.

2 months after the operation, A Tu began to show obvious progress. It can now walk easily on flat floors, and its joint pain has been greatly relieved. After stem cell treatment, dogs suffering from degenerative arthritis have significantly improved their mobility and their joint pain has been greatly relieved.

Case 3: Chronic kidney disease (慢性腎臓病)

A beautiful cat, due to chronic kidney disease, the renal index began to slowly increase. The owner hoped that there was a simple way to help it maintain kidney function. After the doctor used stem cell injection, the cat's renal index decreased and its spirit and appetite also improved. Now I use exosomes and inject them regularly every 6 months. The kidneys are in good condition and the owner is more relieved!

Case 4: Chronic stomatitis (慢性口内炎)

Please see the actual case sharing to see how cats with severe stomatitis can get relief and improvement through regenerative therapy.

Chronic stomatitis is a common disease in cats. It is treated with regenerative therapy for 6 weeks. As shown in the picture above, when the first treatment was carried out on 11/9, the cat's stomatitis was serious, with redness, swelling and ulcers visible to the naked eye. After two weeks, the cat's stomatitis had been greatly alleviated, and the cat's diet and physiological condition also gradually improved. The tiny vesicles secreted by stem cells contain many effective substances such as growth factors, DNA, RNA and mRNA that inhibit inflammatory responses, regulate immunity and repair tissues. They have a good effect in alleviating cat stomatitis. We will continue to track whether there is a recurrence and how long the improvement lasts...

After following up the cat for nearly a year, we found that the stomatitis was well controlled and there was no sign of recurrence. Maintenance can be performed 1-2 times every 3 months to 6 months to maintain the status quo.

Intervertebral Disc Degeneration Case - 12 Year Old Dachshund

Intervertebral disc disease, abbreviated as IVDD (Intervertebral disc disease), is one of the most common neurological problems in dogs; in the most serious cases, it may lead to paralysis of the hind limbs or limbs, or even paralysis!

The cause of the disease in dogs is most likely a congenital genetic problem, namely "chondrodystrophy". The developmental integrity of the cartilage of furry dogs with this gene is not as ideal as others, which also affects the development of the intervertebral disc. The largest proportions are among dachshunds, corgis and French bulldogs, whose risk of disease is 10 times that of other dog breeds. Some are also caused by acquired factors, for example, loving to jump, climbing stairs frequently, etc. These exercises require large movements or high intensity, which will cause poor stress on the spine and cause greater damage.

"Regenerative medicine" provides these furry friends with a new treatment method to help repair nerves and cartilage tissue.

Case 5: Chronic wounds (慢性創傷)

Stem cell secretomes - difficult wound healing

The patient was a dog over 10 years old with a large bedsore wound. After debridement and wound care treatment, the wound, which was originally more than 15 cm in size, shrank to 12 cm and then stopped shrinking. This continued for a month. EVs secreted by stem cells were used to clean the wound and then dripped onto the wound. Gel was then used to protect the wound. After about a week, the wound shrank to 5 cm and began to scab. The owner is very satisfied with the effect of the stem cell secretions.

Case 6: Corneal ulcer (角膜潰瘍)

Deep corneal ulcer in horse's eye

This case was an ophthalmologist who had a racehorse with an eye injury and a severe deep ulcer. Veterinarians use exosomes to repair damaged corneal tissue by dripping exosomes onto the ulcerated part of the cornea. After 5 days of continuous use, the damaged cornea recovered very quickly and well.

Clinical trials have shown that stem cell injections can effectively reduce clinical symptoms in dogs and cats suffering from eosinophilic keratitis (FEK).

Case 7: Fractures and nerve damage (骨折と神経損傷)

Fracture Repair - A 13 Year Old Dog

Ah Bo is a 13-year-old dog, but he is the apple of his owner's eye. One day, he suddenly slipped at home and his owner took him to the hospital, where he was found to have serious fractures. Baoer was quite active and the wound still could not heal after 6 weeks of treatment, so his owner decided to use stem cell therapy.

After one injection, the veterinarian returned to see the dog two weeks later and found that the dog's fractured bones had begun to heal and his physical condition had improved. When Baoer returned for the second dose of stem cell treatment a month later, the fracture was almost healed.

Case 8: Anti-aging - Improvement of physiological functions

When the dog was young, it was a stray dog, but fortunately it was adopted by a kind person. Because of its childhood experiences, its physical condition is not like that of ordinary dogs. As the dog got older, his organs began to have problems, and when the veterinarian saw him, his liver index was off the charts, he had a constant fever, and his diet was also very poor. The owner felt very sorry for Coffee but didn't know how to help him, so he found regenerative therapy.

Case 9: Anti-aging - Skin and hair improvement - 16-year-old dog

16-year-old Granny Chiwawa; and the new hair growing after the treatment

The 16-year-old Chihuahua Granny was a pet abandoned in the hospital by her owner and was adopted by a veterinarian in the hospital. As we age, our eyes, joints, kidneys and even the hair on our bodies almost all fall out, and there are also elderly classes emerging. The veterinarian who adopted him wanted to make his condition better, so he tried giving him a stem cell injection. After a few months, there was no immediate change in the dog. As time passed, the dog began to improve slowly. After a year, its spirit and appetite were good, and its physical condition was maintained well. Amazingly, the hair on the body grew back, the skin became pink, and the dark spots disappeared. The overall condition is good, I hope it can stay healthy!
