Local organic vegetable certification

I believe that many consumers are vague about the concept of organic vegetable food certification. What is certification? Where is the certification? Is there no guarantee for uncertified food?

The following brief introductions can relieve consumers' concerns and deepen the understanding of organic food.

For local organic food in Hong Kong, there are the following two major organizations as certification.

  1. "Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre Certification Co., Ltd. HKORC"-established in 2002, is the only independent third party independent organic certification body in Hong Kong, which conducts organic certification work for Hong Kong's fisheries, farmers and processing industries. Since its establishment, it has certified more than 100 organic farmers, 4 fish farmers and 4 processing plants in Hong Kong. Actively promote Hong Kong's organic development and work together with the industry to formulate standards for organic crop production, aquaculture and processing, and provide professional organic certification services.The company was also accredited by the International Federation of Organic Sports (IFOAM) in 2012, and the certification work has reached the international level.
  2. "Hong Kong Organic Certification Center HKOCC"-Since July 2003, the Hong Kong Federation of Early Childhood Education and Service, the Institute of Insect Ecology of South China Agricultural University and the Hong Kong Organic Agriculture Ecology Association jointly co-organized and coordinated the Hong Kong Organic Certification Center to promote Hong Kong's organic The development of the market provides a higher level of professionalism.

As long as all farms in Hong Kong meet the qualifications, they will obtain the qualified organic certification after passing the verification and accreditation of the above two institutions.

Base on some objective factors, not all farms are eligible to apply for organic certification, but this does not mean that the products of these farms are not organic food.
