Nutritional value: Extra virgin olive oil is a natural oil extracted from olive fruit. About 14% of the oil is saturated fat and 11% is polyunsaturated fat, such as omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids. But the main fatty acid in olive oil is a monounsaturated fat called oleic acid, which accounts for 73% of the total oil content.
Studies have shown that oleic acid can reduce inflammation and may even have a beneficial effect on cancer-related genes. Monounsaturated fats also have strong heat resistance, making extra virgin olive oil a healthy choice for cooking.
Extra virgin olive oil is rich in nutrients. In addition to beneficial fatty acids, it also contains vitamins E and K. Of course, olive oil also contains powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants have biological activity and can reduce the risk of chronic diseases. They can also fight inflammation and help protect cholesterol in the blood from oxidation. These two benefits can reduce the risk of heart disease.
The main anti-inflammatory component of extra virgin olive oil: polyphenols, has been shown to be similar to ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory drug). Cooking method:It is not suitable to cook at high temperature, the smoke point is low, about 165-190°C.
