----
Patrinia paniculata
Efficacy: Clears away heat and detoxifies, eliminates carbuncle and discharges pus, removes blood stasis and relieves pain.
This product is mainly used clinically to treat lower abdominal tumors including bladder cancer, intestinal cancer, cervical cancer, etc. It also has good therapeutic effects on laryngeal cancer and breast cancer.
Modern Pharmacology:
Several studies have confirmed that the saponins contained in Patrinia scabra have anti-tumor effects. The mechanism may be that it affects the cell cycle of tumor cells, causing tumor cells to be mainly blocked in the G0/G1 phase, resulting in a decrease in S phase cells, a decrease in the number of cells involved in division, and inducing tumor cell apoptosis.
In addition, studies have shown that compounds from Patrinia salsa can selectively inhibit the cell activity of HepG2 cells and A549 cells. Its mechanism of action may be to cause irreversible damage to the DNA or chromosomes of tumor cells, resulting in the arrest of cells in the G2/M phase during the proliferation process, thereby inducing apoptosis through the apoptosis mechanism and achieving the effect of inhibiting tumor cell activity.
In addition, studies have shown that Patrinia leucoderma extract can inhibit the proliferation of human colorectal cancer SW480 cells and induce apoptosis of SW480 cells. The mechanism of action may be related to its inhibition of the activation of the Notch signaling pathway.
Decoction method
The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine is not only related to the type of dosage form, but also closely related to the preparation process. Since decoctions are the most commonly used dosage form in clinical applications, and most of them are homemade by patients, in order to ensure that clinical medication can achieve the expected therapeutic effect, doctors will explain to patients the correct decoction methods and precautions when prescribing. This includes utensils, water volume, soaking, heat, time, number of times, etc. However, some Chinese medicines have different properties, performances and clinical uses, and require different decoction times. They may need special treatment, such as decocting first, adding later, decocting in a wrapped form, decocting separately, melting and taking with water.
How to take the medicine
Oral administration is the main route of administration of traditional Chinese medicine in clinical practice. The effectiveness of oral administration may be affected by the following factors, including the time of taking the medicine (on an empty stomach, before meals, after meals, etc.), the amount of medicine taken (two or three doses per dose), the temperature of the medicine (hot or cold), etc.
