Native to tropical Asia, distributed in India and Malaysia. There are a small amount of cultivation in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and Yunnan in China.
Variety：A variant of this plant, Hainan Shaozi, also known as Mao lychee, is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.
