🛍 Product Information:

Binomial Name:

Chinese Name:蜂巢蜜 | 巢蜜

Other Names:Comb Honey | beeswax

Product Description:The main material of the comb that remains after honey is extracted from the comb is beeswax, which is secreted by the worker bees and used to make the comb. Beeswax can be used as a raw material for candles, paints, etc. Beeswax is a substance secreted by worker bees of a certain age. These worker bees have special glands in their abdomens that can secrete beeswax. The bees use beeswax to build the walls of their sinuses. Beeswax has useful properties such as being waterproof, so for humans, beeswax can be used to make candles, certain parts of furniture, and some cosmetics.

On the other hand, beeswax is edible (but has no smell), and beeswax is used in traditional Chinese medicine - beeswax is mild in nature and is considered to nourish the spleen and stomach, moisten the lungs, and relieve diarrhea.

Medicinal
In medicine, it can be used to treat coughs. As a topical medicine, honey can promote wound healing and treat ulcers. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is often made into honey pills with powdered Chinese medicinal materials, which is called honey pills. Stir-fried and dried honey can be used as a suppository to treat constipation; oral administration has the effect of moisturizing and laxative, but it can also alleviate the laxative power of laxatives (rhubarb, thenardite).

Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that honey is sweet and flat in nature and is effective in treating abdominal pain, dry cough, constipation, etc.

Variety:

Supply Season:Available year round.

Normally, bees consume stored honey during the period from the end of fall to spring when few flowers are present. When the larvae hatch in early spring, honey reserves are at their lowest. From then on, the stock of honey begins to replenish as the flowers bloom. As the flowers dwindle in summer, so do the stocks of honey.

The process of human beekeeping to obtain honey (the specific time varies depending on the climate of each place)

From November to March, the beehives are kept indoors and kept at a temperature and light suitable for the bees to spend the winter.
Between April and May, the queen begins to lay eggs, and three weeks later, the worker bees begin their work. Each beehive requires about 20,000 to 30,000 worker bees.
Between May and June, the beehives are placed outdoors to collect honey. After the honeycomb boards are filled with honey, the activities of the bees are controlled through smoke. The honeycomb boards are removed and used in a centrifugal separator to obtain the honey.
June to November is the rest period, and the honey collected by the bees is used by themselves.

#Should Be / Avoided:
traditional Chinese medicine
Beeswax is a traditional Chinese medicine with a sweet, light taste and neutral nature. It returns to the spleen, stomach and large intestine meridians. It has the effects of nourishing the spleen and stomach, moistening the lungs and internal organs, and stopping diarrhea.

"Compendium": Honey has a strong smell, so it nourishes the spleen. The smell of wax is weak, so it nourishes the stomach. The thick ones are sweet in taste and slow in nature, so they moisturize the internal organs. The thin ones have a bland taste but are stingy and firm in nature, so they stop diarrhea and dysentery. Zhang Zhongjing treats dysentery with Qi-adjusting drink, and "Qianjin Prescription" treats dysentery with gelatin wax decoction, which is very effective.

*Edible Compatibility:
The melting point of beeswax is between 62 and 64 degrees Celsius. When heating to 85 degrees Celsius, beeswax begins to change color.

Cooking Skills:Beeswax has been used since prehistory as the first plastic, as a lubricant and waterproofing agent, in lost-wax casting of metal and glass, as a polish for wood and leather, in making candles, as an ingredient in cosmetics, and as an artistic medium for color painting.

Beeswax is edible, has negligible toxicity similar to vegetable waxes, and is approved for food use in most countries and the EU with E number E901. But since it cannot be broken down by the human digestive system, its nutritional value is minimal.

Beeswax has a relatively low melting point range of 62 to 64 °C (144 to 147 °F). If beeswax is heated above 85 °C (185 °F), discoloration will occur. Beeswax has a flash point of 204.4 °C (400 °F). [8]

Triacontyl palmitate is a wax ester and is the main component of beeswax.
When natural beeswax is cold, [needs clarification] it is very brittle, has dry fractures, and is granular. It is tough at room temperature (usually around 20 °C (68 °F)) and softens further at body temperature (37 °C (99 °F)).

Dish:
use

The use of beeswax in skin care and cosmetics continues to increase. A German study found that beeswax was superior to similar barrier creams (usually mineral oil-based creams such as petroleum jelly) when used according to its regimen. Beeswax is used in lip balms, lip glosses, hand creams, salves, and moisturizers; as well as cosmetics such as eye shadow, blush, and eyeliner. Beeswax is also an important ingredient in beard wax and hair wax, making hair look smooth and shiny.
