🐝 Supplier / Origin : Dongsheng Farm, a vegetable supplier in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area / Guangdong, Hunan, etc
🔖 Certification : China Organic

🌱 Supplier introduction :
Dongsheng Organic Vegetables come from one of the Greater Bay Area’s most established vegetable suppliers. Grown across certified organic and green bases in Guangdong, Hunan and other regions, they are harvested at peak freshness, packed under strict cold-chain conditions and delivered quickly to Hong Kong tables.
The farms follow a “no chemical pesticide, no chemical fertiliser” principle, with soil and water testing, batch residue checks and full QR-code traceability from field to pack. Hunan Xintian bases add a natural selenium-rich character that many describe as crisp, sweet and clean-tasting. Varieties include choy sum, spinach, lettuce, baby greens, broccoli and seasonal leafy and fruiting vegetables — reliable year-round supply for home cooking, restaurants and retail.
Dongsheng has long supplied Hong Kong and Macau as a Greater Bay Area “vegetable basket” partner, combining volume, consistency and documented food-safety standards.
🛍 Product Information :
What it is
黃芽白 is the Cantonese name for heading Chinese cabbage (napa / Brassica rapa Pekinensis group), also called 紹菜 or 津白. 苗 means the crop is cut young—compact, loosely wrapped hearts rather than a large tight head. Outer leaves are green; inner leaves pale yellow-green (the “yellow heart” that gives the name). Softer and quicker-cooking than a mature napa, with a sweeter, less fibrous bite.
How it differs from Hangbai seedlings
Hangbai苗 is closer to a non-heading “fast cabbage” / baby pak-choi style green. 黃芽白苗 is the baby form of true napa: slightly broader midribs, paler heart, and a recognisable Chinese-cabbage flavour when cooked.
Origin & production
Sold in Hong Kong as organic packs (often 250–300 g or farm bunches). Typical supply is certified organic bases serving the Greater Bay Area. No synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilisers; short growing cycle allows regular harvest of tender hearts.
Flavour & texture
Mild, clean sweetness; faint napa aroma; stems stay juicy if not overcooked. Inner yellow leaves are especially tender. Less “green-leafy” than choy sum or Hangbai苗; more “cabbage-sweet.”
Nutrition (typical napa-type, per 100 g edible)
Very low energy (~13–20 kcal). Good water content, vitamin C, fibre, potassium; some vitamin K and folate. Best eaten fresh—vitamin C drops with long storage or long boiling.
Culinary uses
High heat, short time keeps the yellow heart bright and the stems crunchy.
Storage
Refrigerate unwashed in the crisper (0–4 °C). Use within 2–4 days. Rinse just before cooking; discard any yellowed outer leaves.
Hong Kong note
Familiar home vegetable in baby form: same flavour family as 黃芽白/紹菜, but portion-friendly and faster to cook. Suits organic retail, family meals and restaurant side dishes.
