Jingfen and Qizhen, childhood sweethearts, finally got married after being separated from each other and missing each other, and had a daughter and a son. It was supposed to be a happy ending, but fate once again tested their relationship. A third party appeared around Qi Zhen, leading to the breakdown of his marriage. However, Jingfen did not give up her feelings for Qizhen. Without the understanding of her family, she gritted her teeth and took care of her two children, hoping that Qizhen would return to his rightful place one day. Many years later, Qizhen was terminally ill. Jingfen returned to her ex-husband regardless of the past grudges because of the belief she had always held: true love only happens once in a lifetime.
