With the support and encouragement of internationally renowned botanist Professor HU Shiu Ying (胡秀英教授), Ms. Liu Ting Chun (廖婷珍女士) persevered for twenty years to finally complete this six-volume set, "Sharing Hong Kong's Floral World."

As early as the spring of 1999,
Professor HU Shiu Ying’s student Liao Tingzhen often came to the Chinese University Herbarium, Professor HU Shiu Ying’s office, as a volunteer. One day, Professor Hu told Ms. Liu Ting Chun, I have a wish, which is to compile a book with pictures and texts introducing the plants of Hong Kong. I hope she will do the photography for Professor Hu, and I will be responsible for copying and writing the information.
Initially, she didn't agree because she didn't know how to take pictures. Professor Hu said to Ms. Liu, "It doesn't matter. No one knows anything when he is born, and doctoral students also start learning in kindergarten. Where there is a will, things come true. As long as you are willing to learn, there will be no problem."
After hearing this, she readily agreed. Over the years, she hasn't given up. So far, she has collected information on more than 3,000 varieties. But due to health problems, Hu Shiu Ying can no longer work, so this responsibility and wish need to be handed over to her to fulfill on my behalf.
I'm delighted that the book is now finally available for publication. Although Professor Hu was unable to participate in the relevant work due to her old age, Professor Hu saw that she did do it very carefully. So as long as you persist and never give up, you can succeed in any difficult matter. I hope people from all walks of life will support this good student Liao Ting Chun.
