Spiced Mosquito Repellent Sachet DIY Steps

Ingredients


Dried Szechuan lantern chilli: 2 tbsp (chopped or coarsely ground)

Dried Szechuan peppercorns: 1 tbsp

Dried cloves: 1 tsp

Dried mugwort or lavender: 2 tbsp (optional, for extra fragrance)

Cotton or muslin bag: 1 (about 10x10cm, with drawstring)

Thin string or ribbon: 1 (for sealing)


Steps


Mix Spices: Combine dried lantern chilli, peppercorns, cloves, and mugwort (or lavender) evenly. Ensure all ingredients are fully dry to prevent mold.

Fill Bag: Place the spice mix into the cotton or muslin bag, filling to about 70% to allow easy sealing.

Seal: Tie the bag tightly with string or ribbon to secure the contents.

Place or Carry: Position the sachet in wardrobes, near beds, room corners, or hang on a backpack during outdoor activities.

Refresh: Replace the spices every 2-3 months to maintain effectiveness.


Tips


The pungent aroma of lantern chilli and peppercorns is key to repelling mosquitoes; cloves and mugwort enhance fragrance and efficacy.

Adjust spice ratios to preference or add dried mint leaves for a fresher scent.

Store in a dry, breathable environment to avoid moisture buildup.
