Herbal Series:
☘️ Edible flowers: fresh in boxes, potted plants, scented tea, edible dried flowers
☘️ Herbs series: either dried, boxed fresh, potted
☘️ edible wild vegetables series (human/tortoise/parrot/lizard): boxed fresh, potted plants, re-used pots (再生盆)
Note:
As for the potted plants of ornamental flowers and edible flowers, most of them need the cooperation of temperature, sunlight and fertilizer. Most places in the city are not suitable for planting, unless there are rooftops and village houses with open sun. Not every family is suitable for planting. If you want to increase the survival rate, you can consider violets and orchids as ornamental flowers that are slightly suitable for urban planting.
Reproduction methods
The reproduction methods include sowing, stem cutting, leaf cutting and bulb division. 1. Commercial production is mainly based on seed sowing, and the best time for sowing is spring and autumn. 2. The stem cutting method is to cut the tender stems that often sprout from the tubers, and the stem segments with more than 2 nodes are inserted into the medium. 3. Leaf cutting method: After the flowers fall, select excellent individual plants, cut the strong leaves, leave 1 cm of petiole, and insert the leaves and petiole into the medium. 4. Bulb division reproduction: Select old bulbs that have been dormant for 2-3 years, bury them in the soil and water them in autumn or December to March of the following year. When the buds grow to about 0.5 cm, dig up the bulbs and cut the bulbs into 2 to 4 pieces with a sterilized sharp knife, each piece must have a bud eye. Plant one pot for each piece to form a new plant.
Cultivation method
Flowers all year round. For spring planting, it blooms from early summer to autumn; for autumn planting, it blooms in summer, depending on the sowing and planting period. The cultivation place needs to be ventilated and shaded, with 50-70% sunshine as the best, and avoid direct sunlight. It can be cultivated indoors near the window. The leaves are fluffy. When watering, do not pour water on the leaves, which are easy to rot. The suitable temperature is 20-30℃. It is normal for the flowers to gradually turn yellow after they fade. At this time, you should stop watering and fertilizing, leave the tubers in the pot and place them in the corner to keep them dry. When new buds sprout in the spring of the following year, water them again.
Morphological characteristics
Gloxinia is also called "Xinningzhihua", which is a direct translation of its genus name "Sinningia", and the species name "speciosa" means "gorgeous", which is completely in line with the meaning of gloxinia's velvety beautiful flowers. Gloxinia is a perennial bulbous flower in Taiwan. It has tubers underground and goes dormant when the environment is not suitable, but as long as it is kept dry, it will flourish again once the temperature is suitable. It can be cultivated perennially and can tolerate low light, making it a rare indoor flowering plant.
