Jiangxi Purebred Taihe Organic Bamboo Silk Chicken (also known as Taihe Silkie, Taihe Black-Boned Chicken, or Wushan Chicken) originates from the foothills of Wushan Mountain in Taihe County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province. With a breeding history of over 2,200 years, it is a renowned Chinese Geographical Indication product and a "world treasure fowl."
This chicken is famous for its unique "Ten Distinctive Features": crested crown, silky feathers, green ears, beard/muff, feathered legs, five toes, black skin, black meat, and black bones. Its fluffy white plumage resembles silk, and its petite, elegant build has earned it the poetic name "White Phoenix Fairy."
Beyond its striking appearance and ornamental value, Taihe Bamboo Silk Chicken is prized for its tender, flavorful meat and exceptional nutritional profile. Rich in amino acids, trace elements, and melanin, the entire bird is used in traditional Chinese medicine. It offers benefits such as nourishing yin and blood, tonifying qi, and strengthening the body—making it ideal for soups, stews, and medicinal dishes. It is a key ingredient in the classic TCM remedy "Wuji Baifeng Wan" (Black-Boned Chicken and White Phoenix Pills). Organically raised purebred specimens deliver the most authentic taste and superior quality, making them a premium choice for health-conscious gourmets and nourishing cuisine.
To ensure black-boned chickens grow quickly and well, feed is key. Taihe black-boned chickens, also known as "Wushan chickens," are famously prized, with a local saying, "If it doesn't drink Wushan water, it's not a Wushan chicken," highlighting the high nutritional value of the local all-natural food. The team developed fermented feed, using the fermented products of mulberry tree branches and leaves. This fully utilizes local resources, achieves antibiotic-free feed, and improves the quality and flavor of the chicken and eggs.
Previously, raising a black-boned chicken cost about 20 yuan in feed. Using our specially developed feed, the cost is reduced by more than 1 yuan per chicken. This feed officially went into production on May 1, 2023. Currently, this innovative achievement has been patented and is being used in several black-boned chicken farms in Taihe County.
