🛍 Product Information :
Common Rue (commonly known as 臭草 in Hong Kong and Guangdong, also called Rue, Herb-of-Grace, or Small Fragrant Herb), scientifically named Ruta graveolens, is a perennial herbaceous plant (base slightly woody) in the Rutaceae family. Native to the Mediterranean region, it is now cultivated in southern China (Guangdong, Guangxi), Hong Kong, Taiwan, and parts of Europe. The plant has a strong, pungent aroma when crushed (due to volatile oils like pinene and eucalyptol), which becomes milky-sweet when dried.
n traditional Chinese medicine, it is considered bitter-pungent in taste and cold in nature, entering the spleen, stomach, and lung meridians. It is valued for clearing heat and toxins, dispelling wind to reduce fever, invigorating blood to resolve stasis, promoting diuresis to reduce swelling, and relieving pain. It has been traditionally used for common cold with fever, infantile high fever and convulsions, rheumatic pain, skin sores and eczema, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, traumatic injuries, insect/snake bites, and urinary issues.
Precaution: The whole plant contains toxic compounds and phototoxic substances (can cause skin rashes upon sun exposure after contact). Pregnant women must avoid it due to risk of uterine contraction and miscarriage. Use in very small amounts only (TCM dosage 3–9g dried). Not suitable for those with weak constitution, cold digestion, or children without professional advice. Consult a doctor or TCM practitioner before use, especially with underlying conditions.
