What it is
Cherry tomatoes are a small-fruited type of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). Each fruit is typically bite-sized, round or slightly pear-shaped, with thin skin, juicy flesh and a more concentrated sweet-tart flavour than large salad tomatoes.
This product is grown in Spain under organic standards and carries EU organic certification. Spain is one of Europe’s main fresh-tomato exporters. Greenhouse regions in Andalusia, especially Almería, supply much of the winter and spring market; strong sunlight and a relatively long ripening window help sugars and aroma develop. Appearance and exact cultivar can vary by season, but the fruit is selected for small size, ripe colour and fresh eating quality.
What “organic” means here
EU organic production restricts synthetic pesticides and fertilisers as routine inputs. Growers rely more on crop rotation, organic matter, biological pest control and soil care. For shoppers who want certified lower-chemical produce, this is a transparent standard. Some studies have found higher vitamin C or polyphenols in organic tomatoes, but results depend on variety, sunlight, ripeness and handling—organic is a production method, not a guaranteed nutrient upgrade.
Taste and texture
Ripe fruit should look evenly coloured, feel plump and springy, and burst with juice. The flavour is bright: first sweetness, then a clean tomato acidity. Raw, the aroma is freshest. Slow-roasted or quickly blistered in a pan, the skin splits, water reduces and the taste becomes deeper and more caramelised.
Nutrition (typical values per 100 g)
Cherry tomatoes are mostly water and low in calories, usually about 18–26 kcal. They commonly provide:
Compared with large tomatoes, cherries are often higher in vitamin C and taste sweeter. Lycopene availability increases when tomatoes are cooked with a little fat, such as olive oil; vitamin C is better preserved when eaten raw.
How to use
People with reflux or tomato allergy should be cautious. Those managing blood sugar can enjoy them as a lower-calorie produce snack, while still counting carbohydrates.
Selecting and storing
Choose fruit with even colour and no deep bruises or splits. If they arrive firm, ripen at room temperature. Once ripe, refrigerate and eat within about three days for best flavour. Wash only before eating. Serve at room temperature when possible—chilled tomatoes taste muted.
Who it suits
Households that want ready-to-eat organic produce, Mediterranean-style cooking, or a certified European option. A 500 g pack is enough for a family salad, one roasted tray, or several days of snacking.
Special matters: People with deficiency and cold should not eat regularly. It is recommended to use our recommended vegetable and fruit environmentally friendly Dish Drops to soak for 3 to 5 minutes to eliminate residual sediment and pesticides.
🔅 Note: Cherry tomatoes are not boxed, and there may be a chance of damage due to transportation and natural ripening. Thank you for your understanding.
