It is sold under various trade names as a molluscicide, including Antimilice, Ariotox, Blitzem (in Australia), Cekumeta, Deadline, Defender (in Australia), Halizan, Limacide, Limatox, Limeol, Meta, Metason, Mifaslug, Namekil, Slug Fest, and Slugit. Typically it is applied in pellet form, but it is also found as a liquid spray, granules, paste, or dust. Often the pesticide includes bran or molasses to attract pests, making it attractive to household pets as well.

Main Components and Types
Metaldehyde: A contact and stomach-toxic molluscicide, often formulated as medicated bait. Highly toxic to pets and humans, it affects the nervous system.
Iron Phosphate: Relatively non-toxic, approved for organic horticulture, effectively kills mollusks.
Niclosamide: A highly selective molluscicide used to control aquatic snails, such as the golden apple snail.
Methiocarb: An acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, highly toxic, and extremely poisonous to other animals and humans.
Others: Lime (slaked lime, quicklime), etc., kills molluscs through dehydration.
Application Methods
Medicated Bait: Formed into granules or pills and sprinkled around plants.
Spraying: Liquids, powders, or granules can be formulated into suspensions or powders for spraying.
Metaldehyde is flammable, toxic if ingested in large quantities, and irritating to the skin and eyes. It has a white crystalline appearance with a menthol odor.
As of March 2022, the British Government prohibit the use of outdoor waters, protect birds, Japanese mammals, and avoid drinking water pollution.
Safety Considerations
Some molluscicides (such as those containing metaldehyde or methiocarb) are highly toxic to pets and children; accidental ingestion should be avoided.
The presence of bittering agents reduces the risk of accidental ingestion, but cannot completely prevent it.
Ferric phosphate products have low toxicity and are a relatively safe organic option.
Mechanism of action: Interferes with the metabolism and feeding processes of mollusks.
Causes dehydration, leading to death.

Compatibility:
This medicated bait should be used independently.
Do not mix with liquid fertilizers or other pesticides.
In case of accidental ingestion, do not induce vomiting. Immediately take the affected person to the nearest hospital, bringing this label.
Do not give any beverages, including fresh milk. Keep the affected person warm and in a well-ventilated area. If breathing is weak, immediately administer artificial respiration.
First Aid:
If contact with eyes, rinse with water for 15 minutes and then consult a doctor. If skin comes into contact with the solution, immediately wash with soap and plenty of water. If you inhale the powder or experience any discomfort, see a doctor immediately.
This label must be brought with you when seeing a doctor or being taken to the hospital.
Doctor's Note:
Symptoms of poisoning include excessive salivation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, facial flushing, fever, drowsiness, hardened flesh, and convulsions. Pupils may constrict or dilate. Symptoms may appear 30 minutes to several hours after ingestion. Coma may occur within 5 hours of ingestion. The bait will gradually decompose into acetaldehyde in the acidic environment of the stomach. There is no specified antidote.
Gastric lavage can be performed; activated charcoal, baking soda/sodium sulfate can be administered. For excessive acidity: sodium bicarbonate, saline, and glucose can be injected.
Precautions: Do not ingest this pesticide: Ingestion is life-threatening. Avoid skin and eye contact. Avoid ingestion of the powder. If inhalation of the powder is possible, post warning signs in a visible location (Poison, Do Not Enter, Name of Poison Sprayed, Date and Time, etc.). Do not allow unprotected personnel to enter the application area. For 24 hours after application, allow personnel in protective clothing to enter the area. Exercise caution when handling people, food, and smoking. Wear appropriate protective clothing (such as work clothes, respirator, gloves, etc.) at all times. After application, wash hands and body thoroughly with soap and water. This product is toxic and can harm aquatic life.
Storage: Do not allow substrate to enter the application area or come into contact with the pesticide. Do not apply directly to water sources, fishponds, or other sources. Store carefully away from children. Keep away from food, feed, and beverages. Clearly separate from other pesticides. Do not store near high temperatures or open flames. Pesticides must be labeled and stored in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry place.
Disposal: When grinding or cleaning packaging, do not contaminate water sources. Therefore, packaging materials cannot be reused for other purposes. The packaging materials must be torn open before general waste disposal.
