Herbicide - An Kang Cao Jing (Peaceful Weed Cleaner) / MSMA 45% SL is a selective, organic arsenical contact herbicide. Hong Kong pesticide registration number: 2P124. Origin: Taiwan. It is used for post-emergence control of broadleaf weeds and certain grasses in turf, roadsides, and non-crop areas.

Detailed Explanation：

The active ingredient is Monosodium Methanearsonate (MSMA) at 45% in soluble liquid (SL) formulation. It is primarily absorbed through foliage and acts as a contact herbicide, disrupting weed growth processes (possibly by uncoupling energy metabolism or damaging cell membranes), leading to rapid chlorosis, necrosis, and death of targeted weeds.

Key Uses:

Controls broadleaf weeds and problematic grasses such as nutsedge, crabgrass, goosegrass, dallisgrass, and others.

Suitable for turf (golf courses, sports fields), rights-of-way, wasteland, and non-crop areas.

Offers selectivity on certain warm-season grasses but requires careful application to avoid injury to sensitive plants.

Features: Fast-acting with good selectivity, easy to apply as a spray. Due to its organic arsenic content, always follow label instructions, wear PPE, prevent drift to sensitive areas or water bodies, and comply with local environmental regulations.

It is absorbed through the leaves and roots of weeds and translocates throughout the plant, mimicking auxin (plant growth hormone) to disrupt cell division and elongation. This interferes with normal metabolism, causing uncontrolled growth and eventual death of broadleaf weeds.

Key Uses:

Effective control of annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds (e.g., chickweed, shepherd’s purse, etc.).

Suitable for non-crop areas such as wasteland, roadsides, railways, turf, and certain cereal crops (wheat, maize, rice, etc.).

Safe on grasses (monocots) but highly effective against dicotyledonous plants.

Features: Strong systemic action, fast results, easy to apply as a spray. Always follow label instructions, wear protective gear, and avoid drift to sensitive plants. Hong Kong pesticide registration number: 2P2 (SL).

Tips for using pesticides

Use pesticides correctly and safely;
Keep away from children;
Avoid pesticides from contacting skin, eyes and clothes. If they accidentally splash into eyes or get on clothes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If the pain persists, seek medical attention immediately;
Avoid using the same pesticide for a long time, which may cause pests to develop resistance;
Pay attention to the time of application, and avoid spraying pesticides at noon or when the sun is strong; (Spraying pesticides in a humid and hot environment may cause crop burns)
Avoid excessive spraying of pesticides, and decide whether to use pesticides according to the field conditions; (Excessive use of pesticides may affect the field ecology or cause pests to develop resistance)
Before using pesticides, carefully read the instructions listed on the pesticides, such as dosage and concentration;
When preparing and applying pesticides, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as work clothes, rubber gloves, rubber boots, masks, goggles, etc.;
The introduction of natural enemies requires the "Insect Pest Import Authorization" issued by this Department. For details, please contact the Plant and Pesticide Supervision Division.
