[Properties and functions]
Spicy, bitter, warm, slightly toxic. Enters the lung and large intestine meridians. It can relieve lung function and asthma, relieve cough and expectorant, moisten the intestines and promote bowel movements, relieve pain and fight cancer.
[Chemical composition]
The seeds contain about 50% fatty oil (almond kernel oil) and about 30% amygdalin. Hydrolysis produces hydrocyanic acid, benzoic acid, glucose, in addition to protein, various free amino acids, cholesterol, estrone, α-estradiol, mandelic acid, etc.
[Anti-cancer mechanism]
The crude extract of bitter almond hot water extract has an inhibitory effect on the cultured strain of human cervical cancer cells JIC-26. Giving bitter almond kernels (free intake) to mice can inhibit the growth of Ehrlich ascites cancer and prolong survival. Oral administration or intraperitoneal injection of bitter almond extract to mice can inhibit S180 and liver cancer solid tumors by more than 60%. Amygdalin can also significantly prolong the survival time of rats inoculated with W256 sarcoma. Dry powder of almonds can 100% inhibit the growth of strong carcinogenic fungi - aflatoxin and stericocyanin, thus playing an anti-cancer role.
[Recipe]
1. Almond tea: 6 grams of sweet almonds, 2 grams of green tea. Crush the almonds, put them in a casserole, add water and boil, immediately pour the almonds and boiling water into the cup with green tea, cover and soak for a while before drinking. Functions: moistening the lungs, reducing phlegm, detoxifying and anti-cancer. Suitable for preventing lung cancer, breast cancer and intestinal cancer, etc.
2. Almond, snow pear and yam paste: 10 grams of northern almonds, 1 snow pear, yam rice flour and white sugar in appropriate amounts. Soak northern almonds in boiling water, peel and wash; peel and wash snow pears, take out the flesh and cut into pieces; put almonds and snow pears in a blender and blend into a paste. Use an appropriate amount of clean water to mix almond and snow pear paste, yam rice noodles and white sugar into a paste, pour into a boiling water pot (about 100 ml of boiling water), stir continuously, and cook until cooked. Function: nourishing yin and promoting fluid, moistening the lungs and resolving phlegm. Suitable for lung cancer with yin deficiency and dryness, and lung yin burning during radiotherapy, dry cough or yellow and thick sputum, dry mouth and throat, etc. Lung cancer is caused by lung cold, dampness and phlegm. People with excessive phlegm should not eat this product.
3. Almonds and Sichuan Fritillaria casserole with old duck: half an old duck, 6 grams of northern almonds, 6 grams of Sichuan Fritillaria, 15 grams of Codonopsis pilosula, and 15 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa. Remove the skin of the northern apricots and wash them, wash the Sichuan Fritillaria cirrhosa, Codonopsis pilosula and Rehmannia glutinosa, wash the old duck, remove the internal organs, and cut into pieces. Put all the ingredients into the pot, add appropriate amount of water, boil over high heat, simmer for 2-3 hours, season and serve. This soup nourishes yin, moistens the lungs and resolves phlegm. It is suitable for people with lung cancer, weak constitution, dry lungs, phlegm and heat.
4. Almond porridge: 10 almonds, 20 grams of rock sugar, 100 grams of polished rice. Wash the almonds, peel and remove the core, cook the polished rice porridge, add rock sugar and almonds and cook until cooked. It is suitable for people with lung cancer who cough without phlegm and only thirst.
5. Almond dried tofu: 200 grams of dried tofu, 100 grams of walnut kernels, 25 grams of almonds, 20 grams of peanuts, 1 bag of five-spice. Salt and cooking wine are appropriate. Put the dried tofu and five-spice into the water and cook slowly to make it taste good, soak it in five-spice and set aside. When eating, cut the dried tofu into cubes and serve it on a plate with the almonds, walnut kernels and peanut kernels soaked in salt water. Function: warming the lungs and calming asthma, nourishing the kidney and replenishing essence. Suitable for patients with lung cancer, asthma and cough due to deficiency and cold.
