Germination characteristics:

Marigolds are reproduced by the sowing method, and the suitable temperature for germination is about 15-20 degrees, which is more than that of autumn and winter sowing. It is one of the cool season flower species. The seeds are brown, curled, with a size of about 0.5-2cm. They can be sown in pots or directly on the planting position. After sowing, they need to be covered with soil to insulate the light and fully watered. They will germinate and sow in about 5-10 days. It takes about 90 to 105 days to bloom.

Plant traits:

The marigold plant is dwarf, with a plant height of about 20-50 cm. The leaves are oblong and alternate, with hairs on the top. The heads are terminal, and the flowers are dense. There are single and double petals series. Its flower colors are rich, ranging from light yellow, yellow, and yellow. There are light purple, orange to dark orange colors, about 5 cm in diameter.

Cultivation method:

Calendula can adapt to poor soil, but it is better to use fertile and well-drained loam. It can grow in full day or half day, and the soil pH can grow from 4.5 to 8.3. If the seedlings are cultivated, they can be transplanted or planted when the plant height is 8-10 cm. The distance between row plants or long pots is about 30 minutes, and if it is cultivated in a large area, the distance between plants can be 50-90 cm. Seedlings can be topped to increase the number of branches and flower buds, but if the side branch flower buds are removed, the development of the main branch top flower buds can be promoted and the flowers will be larger. After the flowers die, you can cut off the remaining flowers to stimulate the development of side buds and open more flowers. Calendula is more susceptible to disease in a warm and humid environment.
