Product Description:Initially, this variety was restricted to sweet potatoes grown in the Anno region, but later began to be grown in other areas as well. In 2022, it was registered as a Geographical Indication Protection System (GI) project under the name "Taneshima Annoma" (種子島安納いも).


The sucrose content after steaming is more than double that of Gaoqing No. 14. It is characterized by very strong sweetness, moistness when baked, and a sticky texture. After being left to mature for a month or so, it will be sweeter than when it was first dug out. Very sweet when roasted, they are called "honey potatoes," making them one of the most popular sweet potatoes. It is used in a variety of dishes, including tempura, sweet potatoes, dried potatoes, and as an ingredient in desserts.

Annatto sweet potato is a vine-like annual or perennial herbaceous plant. The fleshy roots are thick and round, oval or spindle-shaped. It likes high temperatures and needs full sunshine and moderate rainfall. It is sweet in taste and neutral in nature. Little Kim Anna
Collected by Annou Kogane in 1989 from fields in Nishinomotia, Nishinomot City. It somehow got mixed up with the native Anya potato, and in 1990 a yellow-brown-skinned individual appeared in the Bear Hair Branch and was confirmed to be a mutant Anya potato. It was named "Taneshima Red No. 4". Like Anna Kogane, the selection was completed in 1994, and bud tip cultivation began and it began to be widely used. Anna taro black slices and sugar glutinous rice balls with soy milk


Ingredients: (Serves 2 to 3 people)
Anna taro sweet potato 30g (about 1/3)
Black sugar 15 grams (about 1/4 piece)
Extra thick soy milk 250ml
Glutinous rice flour 50g water 45ml

Preparation method:
1. Wash the Anna yam and sweet potatoes, steam or bake for 25 minutes until cooked, and let cool.
2. Crush the black sugar into small particles and set aside.
3. Peel the Anna taro and sweet potatoes, crush into puree and set aside.
4. Mix the glutinous rice flour and water, stir it into a dough, knead it tightly with your hands, divide the dough into glutinous rice balls, shape it into a ball, and press the center with your fingers to make a depression.
5. Take a small amount of Anna taro paste, wrap it in black sugar granules, then wrap the Anna taro sugar filling into the dough, roll it into a ball and wait for cooking.
