Description
1. Methods of accelerating germination:
①. Soak the nasturtium seeds in clean water for one day, and wait for the wrinkled skin on the surface of the nasturtium seeds to become stretched and not wrinkle.
② Use a disposable plastic lunch box. Of course, other boxes are also possible. Spread 2 layers of paper towels on the bottom of the box and spray it. Note: Do not use scented paper towels. Put the seeds on a paper towel, cover it with a layer of paper towel, and spray wet. Then close the lid and start to germinate. When the temperature is above 20 degrees, it will usually be white in about 3 days.
2. Seeding:
① After the seeds stretch out the small white buds, they can be sown. First put the peat, perlite, and vermiculite in a 1:1:1 ratio and put them into the nursery pot.
② Make a hole in the middle of the soil, the size of the hole should be large enough to put the seeds in. Gently put the white seeds into the hole, taking care not to break the small white buds. Then lightly cover with soil. Keep the soil moist, the seeds will break out of the soil in 3-5 days.
Second, nursery
① After the nasturtium seedlings emerge from the soil, they should be moved to bright out as soon as possible, and gradually moved to the sun for maintenance to avoid excessive growth.
②. When the nasturtium grows 5-6 leaves, it is necessary to carry out topping to promote the germination of the side branches, and more flowers can be bloomed in the future. For the first topping, keep 4 leaves.
③ No fertilization is required during the seedling stage of nasturtium. After the first topping, the root system is overgrown in the seedling pot, and then it can be planted on the pot.
Three, colonization
Nasturtium planting soil can be used as base fertilizer by adding 10% of pelleted chicken manure and 10% of earthworm manure in the ratio of peat + perlite + vermiculite in a ratio of 1:1:1.
Four, topping and top dressing
After planting, when the side branches grow 4 leaves, perform a second topping. It takes many toppings for the plant to achieve a full effect.
In order to make the nasturtium bloom early, root irrigation with potassium dihydrogen phosphate diluent and spraying water alternately on the leaves every 7 days during the growth period.
Five, pollination
After nasturtium blooms, if you do not need to keep the seeds, you should cut off the remaining flowers in time to avoid consuming too much nutrients to facilitate the formation of new flower buds.
Nasturtiums raised outdoors do not require artificial pollination, wind and insects will accomplish this task. But if it is kept indoors, artificial pollination is needed to produce seeds.
Artificial pollination is suitable for the morning on a sunny day. When the stamens pop out of pollen and the pistils are in a "human" shape, apply the pollen to the pistils. The same flowers can be pollinated. After pollination, the pollen will wither quickly. When the flower stalk is bent When it is spiral, it means that the pollination is successful.
Six, harvest and storage
The mature seeds will fall down by themselves. At this time, the seeds can be dried in the sun and stored in a cool place.
