A prized blood orange variety with bright orange skin and deep red‑tinged flesh. Sweet and aromatic, with balanced acidity and subtle berry notes. Perfect for fresh eating, juicing, or adding colour and flavour to desserts and salads.

Sanguinelli is a renowned late-season variety of blood orange (Citrus sinensis), originating from Spain, particularly the Valencia region, with a history dating back over a century (first noted around 1929 as a limb sport mutation). It is one of the classic blood orange cultivars, alongside Tarocco and Moro. The fruit is medium-sized, roughly rounded to slightly oblong, with a smooth, semi-thin peel that features a striking red blush or bright cherry-red pigmentation—often the most intensely red-rinded among blood oranges. The flesh is juicy and segmented, typically orange with vivid blood-red streaks or deep crimson pigmentation due to anthocyanins, and it contains several seeds. Sanguinelli offers a balanced sweet-tart flavor with good acidity, rich sweetness, and distinctive berry-like or raspberry undertones, making it intensely flavorful. The peel clings tightly (harder to peel), but its high juice content makes it excellent for juicing. As a late-maturing variety, it peaks from February to April (sometimes holding on the tree until May), with color and flavor intensifying over time. Ideal for fresh eating, juicing, cocktails, salads, desserts, or marmalade, Sanguinelli shines in late winter to early spring.
