Potential biochemical effect

In the epidermis wax of apples, there is a rich substance ursolic acid. Ursolic acid is found in many plants, such as many fruits and herbs (eg apples, basil, bilberries, cranberries, elderflower, mint, rosemary, lavender, oregano, thyme, hawthorn, and plums). Apple peels contain high amounts of ursolic acid and related compounds. The many potential biochemical effects of ursolic acid were investigated, which inhibited JNK expression and IL-2 activation in JURK leukemia T cells, resulting in a reduction in proliferation and T cell activation.
