The Australian grape industry has a long history, with the first vines arriving with the First Fleet in 1788 from Brazil and the Cape of Good Hope. Although the initial plantings did not bear fruit, they laid the foundation for over 230 years of grape production. Today, more than 40 varieties of table grapes are grown in Australia, with many being seedless, offering crisp texture, high sweetness, and juiciness that appeal to consumers worldwide.

Production is concentrated in regions such as Sunraysia and Murray Valley in Victoria, as well as parts of New South Wales. Annual production averages around 200,000 tonnes, with the industry valued at over AUD 900 million (including approximately AUD 557 million in exports). About 70% of the crop is exported, primarily to Asian markets.

Renowned for large, plump berries, excellent flavor profiles, and consistent quality, popular varieties include Thompson Seedless (green), Crimson Seedless (red), Menindee Seedless, and innovative proprietary varieties like Midnight Beauty® (black) and Autumn Crisp® (green).
