The Aksu Tangxin Apple (also known as Aksu Rock Sugar Heart Apple) is a renowned specialty from the Aksu region in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China, recognized as a national geographical indication product. Primarily grown in Wensu County, Aksu, under the temperate continental climate at the southern foothills of Tianshan's Tomur Peak, it benefits from abundant sunshine, significant diurnal temperature differences, and fertile soil. The apple features a flat shape with an average weight of 220–350 grams per fruit, smooth and glossy skin with vibrant red hues; its flesh is fine-textured, crisp, and juicy without residue, with a translucent core that resembles rock sugar—hence the name "sugar heart." It boasts a sweetness level of 15-21 degrees, 20% higher than typical apples, and is rich in vitamin C, fiber, pectin, and other nutrients, offering a rich, sweet flavor and aromatic profile. Dubbed the "Hermès of apples," it yields over 300,000 tons annually and serves as a flagship of Xinjiang's apple industry, ideal for fresh consumption or processing into juice and jam.


The Aksu Rock Sugar Apple (also known as the "Aksu Bing Tang Xin Apple") is a premium variety of Fuji apple grown in the Aksu region of Xinjiang, China. 


Unique Feature: Its most distinctive characteristic is the "rock sugar heart"—a translucent, amber-colored crystalline pattern formed around the core. This is a natural result of high altitude, intense sunlight, and extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night.


Texture & Flavor: The flesh is exceptionally crisp and tender with a high juice content. Its sugar content often exceeds 18%, making it significantly sweeter than standard apples.


Cultivation: Grown at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains and irrigated with pure snowmelt water, these apples have a long growing season. They are typically harvested only after the first frosts, which allows the sugars to concentrate and "freeze" into the iconic sugar heart.
