Product Description:The artificial cultivation method using bottles was invented by Hasegawa Gosaku and started in Matsushiro Town, Nagano Prefecture around 1931 (Showa 6). In the 1960s, production increased and spread throughout the country. Initially, enoki mushrooms were artificially cultivated, with brown color and shorter stems, similar to wild mushrooms, but when the mushrooms grew larger, they were wrapped in paper and grown in the dark without exposing them, giving them a longer stem. After exposure to light, they turn into white bean sprouts. When he created something shaped like this, it became an instant hit and became established as the image of the enoki mushroom.
Although it is not as expensive as shiitake, it is the most produced mushroom in Japan. Japan's enoki mushroom production in 2022 was 126,321 tons, making it one of the most productive mushrooms together with Bunashimeji.
Variety:There are two main types of enoki mushrooms: one is the white enoki mushroom, also known as the silver enoki mushroom, which is whiter and thinner; the other is the yellow enoki mushroom, which is milky yellow in color. Both types of enoki mushrooms can be cultivated in factories, but white enoki mushrooms are the most common. . Generally, dried enoki mushrooms are mostly light brown.
