Product Description:Endive (Endive / ˈ ɛ n d aɪ v , - d ɪ v , ˈ ɑː n d iː v / ) is a leafy vegetable belonging to the genus Endive, which includes several similar bitter-leaf vegetables. Species include Endive (also called Endive), Endive (also called wild Endive), and Endive (also called Endive). Endive includes types such as endive, puntarelle, and endive. Belgian Endive.
Also called chicory, Endive is one of the earliest plants cited in recorded literature. It was discovered by chance in 1830 by a farmer in Brussels, Belgium, who stored some chicory roots in his cellar planning to dry and roast them for coffee. He left his farm several months and when he returned, he discovered that the roots had sprouted small white leaves, crunchy and tender.
Purists are sure it's this bitterness that makes chicory so interesting.
Endive is rich in many vitamins and minerals, especially folate and vitamins A and K, and is high in fiber. It also contains kaempferol. Kaempferol (3,4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone) is a natural flavonol, a type of flavonoid found in a variety of plants and plant foods, including kale, beans, tea, Spinach and broccoli.
Variety:These include several similar bitter-leaf vegetables, the main varieties of cultivated C. endivia chicon:
Curly endive, or frisée (var. crispum). This type has narrow, green, curly outer leaves. It is sometimes called Endive in the United States and is called chicorée frisée in French. Further confusion results from the fact that frisée also refers to greens lightly wilted with oil.
Escarole, or broad-leaved endive (var. latifolia), has broad, pale green leaves and is less bitter than the other varieties. Varieties or names include broad-leaved Batavian endive, grumolo, scarola, and scarole. It is eaten like other greens, sauteed, chopped into soups and stews, or as part of a green salad.
Catalogna, also known as Asparagus endive

Supply Season:The main production period is from November to April of the following year, and it is available in Hong Kong throughout the year.
Storage Method:Chicory can be refrigerated for a few days in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator or in the cellar in a plastic bag.
