Yunnan Shilin Ginseng Fruit is a specialty agricultural product from Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China, recognized with National Geographical Indication for Agricultural Products. Belonging to the Solanaceae family, it originates from the northern foothills of the Andes in South America (originally known as pepino or melon pear). Introduced to Shilin in 1994 from Minqin, Gansu, it has developed over more than 30 years into the world's largest commercial production and distribution base for this crop.
