Akitakomachi rice is a premium variety developed in 1984 at the Akita Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station in Japan, as an improved cultivar of Koshihikari. Named after the renowned beautiful poet Ono no Komachi from Akita, it symbolizes its glossy beauty and irresistible flavor. When cooked, the grains are shiny and translucent, with moderate stickiness, fluffy yet chewy texture, balanced sweetness, and a refreshing aroma. It remains delicious even when cold, making it ideal for sushi, onigiri, bento, or everyday Japanese meals. Akita's fertile soil, significant temperature differences, and abundant snowmelt water contribute to its consistent high quality.


🥘 Recipe： 


Currently, many supermarkets (such as Costco), Japanese food stores, or e-commerce platforms in Taiwan sell imported Akita Komachi rice from Akita Prefecture. It is recommended to choose products labeled as new rice (harvested this year). When cooking rice, the water-to-rice ratio is about 1:1.1. Using an electric rice cooker or unwashed rice makes it more convenient. Enjoy this premium rice from the Tohoku region of Japan!
