🛍 Product Information:

Mangosteen (scientific name: Garcinia mangostana), often called the "Queen of Fruits," is a tropical evergreen tree native to Island Southeast Asia, particularly the Malay Peninsula, Borneo, and the Sunda Islands of Indonesia. Malaysia is one of its primary origins and a major producer, where the fruit is highly prized and often paired with durian as the "royal couple" of tropical fruits (durian as the "King" and mangosteen as the "Queen").
The fruit is round, about 4–7 cm in diameter, with a thick, hard, deep reddish-purple to purplish-black rind. When ripe, it splits open easily to reveal 5–8 segments of snow-white, juicy, tender flesh that is sweet-tart with a delicate flavor reminiscent of peach and pineapple. Malaysian mangosteens are renowned for their superior sweetness, fewer seeds, and exceptional quality due to the ideal tropical rainforest climate and rich soil.
It is packed with nutrients, including vitamin C, B vitamins, dietary fiber, and powerful antioxidants called xanthones, which offer anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting, and detoxifying benefits. In traditional Chinese medicine, mangosteen is considered cooling and is often eaten to balance the "heat" of durian. However, those with cold constitutions should consume it in moderation.
The best season to buy mangosteen
Like most fruits, mangosteen prices tend to be cheaper during harvest season. If it is harvest season, the price of mangosteen is about IDR 10,000 per kilogram. The price of this fruit, known as the "Queen of Tropical Fruits", will rise when production decreases, with a price difference of three or four times.
To buy fresh and cheap mangosteen in Malaysia, it is usually between January and April.
