Externally, it has a thin, orange-yellow rind with occasional red blushes, easy to peel, medium to large in size (about 7-10 cm in diameter), and nearly seedless. The flesh is juicy, tender, exceptionally sweet (Brix-to-acid ratio often above 12.0) with low acidity, featuring subtle raspberry or floral notes—widely regarded as the sweetest and most flavorful blood orange.
Benefiting from the fertile volcanic soil around Mount Etna, it is exceptionally high in vitamin C and nutritional value. Ideal for fresh eating, juicing, or in jams and salads, it is in season during winter (December to spring) and is Italy's favorite table orange.
