Portugal Organic Farm

The Quinta do Romeu farm is located in Trás-os-Montes region, in northeastern Portugal. The farm was established in 1874 by Mr. Clemente Menéres. From the planting of olive trees to the production of olive oil, they are subject to the strict organic certification of the European Union. The olive oil produced by it has obtained PDO (Protection of Designation of Origin) and SATIVA PT BIO-03 Organic Farming EU Portugal Certification.

The farm operation is certified by organic farming, and the process does not use chemical substances at all. The ROMEU olive oil produced by contains no additives and preservatives and is pure olive juice. The production of ROMEU olive oil is limited, depending on the annual output of the olives.

Cold Extraction

The olive harvest period is between November and December each year. In order to keep the freshness of the olives, the farm process them on the same day or the following day after picking. The olives are washed in pure water before being crushed in a granite mill, then milled in a traditional granite stone mill, and the olive oil is extracted by cold extraction.

Tasting notes

Green/yellow Romeu Olive Oil in colour with intense grass, flower and olive aromas. In the mouth it is rounded, dense and fluid; starting with a hint of sweet almonds, followed by fresh olives, assorted greens and an extremely long and complex finish with a spicy hint that is not at all sour. This is a subtle olive oil, with a delicate personality that is not overly potent whilst revealing a grand elegance and harmony.
