It is called Shiranui becoz the place of origin of this spiece is Shiranui Town, Kumamoto Prefecture. It has a unique shape, with a protruding top stalk, thick skin and fine flesh, with a sweet level of 13 to 14 degrees and an acidity of only about 1%; sweet and sour. The pulp is crisp and juicy.

Shiranui Mandarin, also known as Ugly Mandarin (Japanese : Dekopon), is an excellent variety cultivated by the Nagasaki Prefecture Research Institute in Japan.

It is called Shiranui because the place of origin is Shiranui Town, Kumamoto Prefecture. It has a unique shape, with a protruding top stalk, thick skin and fine flesh, with a sugar content of 13 to 14 degrees and an acidity of only about 1%; sweet and sour. The pulp is crisp and juicy, rich in vitamin C and carotene. Because the skin is rough and there is a bump on the top of the head, it feels unpleasant, so it is also called "ugly orange". I don’t know that the fire fruit pulp and juice are as sweet as honey. It perfectly demonstrates "I am ugly, but I am sweet." It is also known as the "Queen of Citrus".
