🛍 Product Information (Main) (English):
The Black Solliès Fig, also known as Bourjasotte Noire or Figue de Solliès, is a premium variety of fresh fig originating exclusively from the Solliès-Pont region in the Var department of Provence, southeastern France. Protected under the AOP (Appellation d'Origine Protégée) designation since 2006, it has been cultivated in this Mediterranean microclimate since antiquity, thriving in sandy loamy soils that impart exceptional minerality and flavor. These figs are large (averaging 5-5.5 cm in diameter and 80-130 grams in weight), with a distinctive drop-like shape, smooth yet ribbed skin in deep purple to near-black hues accented by violet tones and a subtle blue-purple bloom, and glossy, deep red flesh speckled with beige seeds. The flavor profile is uniquely balanced—richly sweet with notes of strawberry jam, cherry, berry, watermelon, and honeydew melon, complemented by a hint of acidity—making it a favorite among chefs for both fresh consumption and culinary applications like grilling or pairing with salty elements such as lardo. Harvested primarily in late summer (August to early autumn), they offer a juicy, firm texture and are best enjoyed ripe from the tree.
